Ezra 4-6, Psalm 58
Ezra 5:4-5 (NLT)
“They also asked for the names of all the men working on the Temple. But because their God was watching over them, the leaders of the Jews were not prevented from building until a report was sent to Darius and he returned his decision.”
In Ezra 5:4–5, the officials and adversaries of the Jewish people requested the names of the men who were rebuilding the temple. But the Lord watched over His people, and they were not stopped from their work. The people returning from exile faced resistance from those who were threatened by the reestablishment of Jerusalem, but Father-God intervened, and the restoration of the temple continued.
These verses remind me that although the people faced opposition, the Lord watched over them. If Father-God wants something accomplished, He watches over both the work and the people carrying it out. I need to trust in the Lord's sovereignty and timing, even when circumstances seem unfavorable.
In the past, I often thought that having the Lord's protection meant all my difficulties would be removed. I was often disappointed when the challenges remained and wondered why Father-God allowed adversity in my life. I now understand that even in the midst of difficulties, Father-God is always present with me, and I need to remain steadfast in my faith. Acting in faith demonstrates my trust in the Lord and in His divine protection.

Day 212 Bible Readings - Ezra 1:5-6 (NLT)

Ezra 1:5-6 (NLT)
“Then God stirred the hearts of the priests and Levites and the leaders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple of the Lord. And all their neighbors assisted by giving them articles of silver and gold, supplies for the journey, and livestock. They gave them many valuable gifts in addition to all the voluntary offerings.”
In Ezra 1:5-6, the Lord moved the returning exiles to Jerusalem to rebuild the house of the Lord in the ruined city. Father-God also stirred the hearts of their neighbors to assist the people of Israel by giving them wealth and resources to rebuild the temple.
One Bible commentary I read noted that the return to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem were a fulfillment of Father-God's promises. Father-God promised to bring His people back after seventy years of exile in Jeremiah 29:10. The Lord started the rebuilding by inspiring those returning from exile to rebuild His house. Father-God also promised to move other people to assist with the rebuilding of the temple and supplies for their journey back to Jerusalem. The people gave them their valuables or the wealth of the nations which Isaiah wrote about in Isaiah 60:5-7.
These verses remind me that Lord is always faithful to Hs promises. Father-God stirred the hearts of the people returning from exile and their neighbors to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. When the people’s hearts were stirred, they stepped out in faith and trusted in the Lord’s provision and guidance and returned to Jerusalem. I am reminded that when the Lord stirs me to action; I need to act with faith and trust that He will also send provision to accomplish His will and plans for the world.

“Then he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia.’”
In Daniel 10:12–13, a divine messenger spoke to Daniel and told him that the Lord had heard his prayer from the moment he began to pray. The divine messenger came in answer to Daniel's prayer but was delayed for twenty-one days because of a spiritual conflict in the unseen realm.
These verses remind me that Father-God is attentive to the prayers of His children. The divine messenger told Daniel that his prayer was heard by Father-God as soon as he began to pray. These verses also teach me the importance of perseverance in prayer and of seeking to understand the Lord's will. Daniel continued seeking the Lord until he received an answer. We cannot fully understand why some prayers are delayed in being answered. The divine messenger's account reminds us that there are spiritual realities beyond what we can see that may oppose the Lord's work in our lives and in the world.
These verses teach me to persevere in prayer and not to become discouraged. I can trust that the Lord's purposes will always prevail, even if there are spiritual reasons why the answer to my prayers may be delayed. The Lord is not reluctant to hear or answer our prayers. Father-God always hears our prayers, and His plans and purposes will ultimately prevail.

We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy. O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.”
In Daniel 9:18–19, Daniel interceded and prayed to the Lord after reading Jeremiah's prophecy that Jerusalem would lie desolate for seventy years. After confessing Israel's sin, Daniel praised the righteousness of Father-God. Then he pleaded with the Lord to have mercy on Jerusalem. Daniel appealed to the Lord's name, reminding Him that Jerusalem and His people were called by His name.
One Bible commentary I read noted that Daniel appealed to the Lord's compassion in his prayer. Daniel relied on Father-God's unchanging character of mercy rather than on the righteousness of the people of Israel. His prayer was rooted in repentance, acknowledging the sins of the people. Daniel had confidence that the Lord would intervene because of His promises and faithful nature.
These verses remind me that when I pray to the Lord, I need to be humble, acknowledge my failures, and seek Father-God's forgiveness. I need to pray like Daniel, with confidence in the Lord's compassion, mercy, and promise of restoration. I need to trust in the Lord's faithful nature rather than in my own goodness.
