Job 25-28, Psalm 37
Job 28:27-28 (NLT)
“Then he saw wisdom and evaluated it. He set it in place and examined it thoroughly. And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’”
In Job 28:27–28, Job tells his friends that the Lord saw wisdom and evaluated it. Job says that true wisdom comes from Father-God. When a person is in a relationship with the Lord and fears Him, they will live according to the Lord’s standards and turn away from evil.
One Bible study I read noted that Job showed the Lord is the source of wisdom and that believers must look to Father-God for wisdom. Being in a right relationship with the Lord is the key to wisdom. As we grow closer to Him, we will naturally turn away from evil because we desire to live according to His standards.
One Bible commentary I read noted that Job had a reverent fear of the Lord. Job was not afraid of God, but he had a deep respect and awe for Father-God’s power and authority. His reverence for the Lord influenced his decisions and actions. Even though Job was suffering, he continued to seek the wisdom of the Lord to help him endure his testing. Job never lost his holy reverence for Father-God.

Day 191 Bible Readings for July 12 - Job 23:8-10 (NLT)

Job 23:8-10 (NLT)
“I go east, but he is not there. I go west, but I cannot find him. I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden. I look to the south, but he is concealed. But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.”
In Job 23:8–10, Job tells his friends he has looked for the Lord in every direction but cannot find Him. Father-God remained hidden from Job and could not be perceived. One Bible commentary I read noted that despite his frustration at not being able to find the Lord, Job remained confident that Father-God was still watching over him and knew where he was going. Job then declares that when the Lord had tested him, he would come forth like gold.
These verses remind believers that even when they feel the Lord is absent from their lives, they cannot rely on or trust their feelings. Father-God is always watching over His children. In his suffering, Job called out to the Lord and did not perceive Him, but he never lost confidence that even though he felt Father-God was absent, the Lord knew what he was going through and would ultimately vindicate him.
I know I've felt frustration like Job, wondering if the Lord was hearing my prayers and often feeling as though I was praying to someone who wasn't there or couldn't hear me—or worse, was deliberately ignoring me. I didn't have Job's steadfast faith to know that my feelings do not determine whether the Lord is present. Job understood that regardless of what he was feeling, the Lord knew where he was and was watching over him.

“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!”
In Job 19:25-27, Job tells his friends that he knows the Lord lives and that, in the end, Father-God will stand upon the earth. Job then declares that even after he dies, he has hope in the resurrection and that he will see the Lord for himself. When Job sees the Lord, he will know Father-God not as a stranger, but as Someone who is familiar to him.
I love this declaration by Job and his certainty that the Lord is alive. For Job, Father-God was more than a spiritual concept. Job declared that the Lord Himself would ultimately vindicate him. His faith was anchored in the certainty that the Lord lives. Although Job knew he was dying, he believed he would one day be resurrected and expected to see the Lord with his own eyes. Father-God would not be a stranger to him. Job had a deep longing to see the Lord and to find the resolution to his suffering.
These verses remind me that believers need to have a deep, unwavering faith in the Lord. If we have a personal relationship with Him and truly believe that Father-God is alive, our faith can help us endure seasons of testing. Job longed for the Lord's presence both in this life and beyond death. His conviction that the Lord lives, along with his longing to be with Him, is a beautiful example for believers to cultivate in their own relationship with the Lord.

In Job 13:15-16, Job tells his friends that he will defend himself and present his case before the Lord because he still has hope in Him. Job had complete trust in Father-God’s justice. He was confident in his own integrity and righteousness and told his friends that only a righteous person could stand before the Lord.
These verses remind me that suffering is not always the result of sin. Job knew he was righteous, and he believed that the Lord was just. He maintained his faith in Father-God’s goodness and purpose even through his suffering. One Bible commentary noted that Job knew he had a right relationship with the Lord, which gave him confidence.
I admire that, even in the depths of his suffering, Job maintained his trust in the Lord’s goodness and was willing to stand before Him and present his case. If Job truly believed that the Lord was evil, he would never have wanted to stand before Him. Instead, Job trusted in God's justice.
