Job 28:27-28 (NLT)

“Then he saw wisdom and evaluated it. He set it in place and examined it thoroughly. And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’”

In Job 28:27–28, Job tells his friends that the Lord saw wisdom and evaluated it. Job says that true wisdom comes from Father-God. When a person is in a relationship with the Lord and fears Him, they will live according to the Lord’s standards and turn away from evil.

One Bible study I read noted that Job showed the Lord is the source of wisdom and that believers must look to Father-God for wisdom. Being in a right relationship with the Lord is the key to wisdom. As we grow closer to Him, we will naturally turn away from evil because we desire to live according to His standards.

One Bible commentary I read noted that Job had a reverent fear of the Lord. Job was not afraid of God, but he had a deep respect and awe for Father-God’s power and authority. His reverence for the Lord influenced his decisions and actions. Even though Job was suffering, he continued to seek the wisdom of the Lord to help him endure his testing. Job never lost his holy reverence for Father-God.
