Esther 6-10, Psalm 52
Esther 6:1-2 (NLT)
“That night the king had trouble sleeping, so he ordered an attendant to bring the book of the history of his reign so it could be read to him. In those records he discovered an account of how Mordecai had exposed the plot of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the eunuchs who guarded the door to the king’s private quarters. They had plotted to assassinate King Xerxes.”
In Esther 6:1–2, the night before Haman planned to execute Mordecai, King Xerxes had trouble sleeping, so he ordered the book of the chronicles of his reign to be read to him. As it was being read, the king discovered the account of how Mordecai had uncovered a plot to assassinate him. The king's sleepless night seemed insignificant, yet it became the turning point of the entire story.
One Bible commentary I read noted that the king's inability to sleep can be seen as divine intervention, with the Lord orchestrating events according to His purposes. Father-God used a seemingly ordinary and insignificant event to fulfill His plan. Even though Father-God's name is never mentioned in the book of Esther, His providence is clearly evident in these verses.
These verses remind me that even when I cannot see Father-God at work, He is faithfully arranging circumstances according to His perfect timing. What seemed like an ordinary event—a king unable to sleep and reading a book—became one piece of His greater plan. The Lord often accomplishes His purposes through ordinary circumstances that may seem insignificant to us.

Heavenly Father, I give You my life. Please forgive me for all my sins and wash me clean through the blood of Jesus. I believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I receive Your forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Thank You, Lord—I am saved, I am forgiven, I am clean, and I am made new in Jesus’ name. Amen.
