Day 202 Bible Readings - Song of Solomon 8:6-7 (NLT)

Song of Solomon 5-8, Psalm 47

Song of Solomon 8:6-7 (NLT)

“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned.”

In Song of Solomon 8:6–7, Solomon uses the imagery of love between a husband and wife to describe the strength and permanence of covenant love. Many Bible commentators have also noted that these verses illustrate the nature of the Lord's love for His people. One Bible commentary I read observed that Father-God's love is as strong and certain as death itself. His love for those who believe in Him is an unbreakable covenant commitment. Father-God's love is steadfast and cannot be extinguished by any force.

When I read these verses, I am reminded that my covenant relationship with the Lord calls for faithfulness and devotion. Walking with Father-God means cultivating a deep and passionate relationship with Him each day.

The Lord's love for me is unwavering, and I want my love for Him to be steadfast as well. I do not want the challenges or circumstances of life to weaken my love for Father-God. I want to remain close to Him by reading His Word daily, praising Him, and continually reflecting on the blessings and miracles He has worked in my life.

If these verses resonate with you—if you feel drawn to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the One whose love for His people is steadfast and unwavering—this may be your moment. Open your heart to Him. Speak to Him in prayer. Tell Him you trust Him and desire to walk with Him. He is faithful, and He will meet you exactly where you are.

Heavenly Father, I give You my life. Please forgive me for all my sins and wash me clean through the blood of Jesus. I believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I receive Your forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Thank You, Lord—I am saved, I am forgiven, I am clean, and I am made new in Jesus’ name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, welcome to the family of Father-God! I encourage you to find and join a Holy Spirit–filled, full-Gospel, Bible-based church where you can grow in your faith and experience the Lord’s love, signs, wonders, and miracles in your life.
