S. Brenda Elfgirl - I was told I am an elf in a parallel life, and I live in the Arizona desert exploring what this means. I've had this blog for a while and I write about the things that interest me. My spiritual teacher told me that my journey in life is about balancing "the perfect oneness of a sweetness heart and the effulgent soul". My inner and outer lives are like parallel lines that will one day meet, but only when there is a new way of thinking. Read on as I try to find the balance.

Day 183 Bible Readings for July 4 - Proverbs 23:4-5 (NLT)
Proverbs 23:4-5 (NLT)
“Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.”
In Proverbs 23:4-5, Solomon warns believers not to make an idol of wealth or wear themselves out trying to get rich because it leads to exhaustion. Believers should find contentment in the Lord’s provision and maintain a healthy balance between work and rest. Solomon also reminds us that material wealth is temporary and unreliable, often giving us a false sense of security. True contentment can only come through a relationship with Father-God.
When I read these verses, I realized that the pursuit of any worldly treasure can become exhausting. When I attended my church conference, I pursued getting the best seat and often stood in line two hours before the doors opened. It was fun at first and made me feel like I was pursuing something worthwhile. But after a few days, I began to question why I was so determined to get a good seat.
Did I think sitting closer to the front would make that much of a difference? Standing in line became a competitive experience and often put me in a sour mood before the session even started. I wore myself out trying to gain "the wealth of a good seat," but that wealth was temporary. Was sitting closer really bringing me closer to the Lord? I came to realize that it didn't matter where I sat, as long as I was ready to receive the teaching and was content wherever I was seated.
If these verses resonate with you—if you feel drawn to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the One who gives you true contentment in life—this may be your moment. Open your heart to Him. Speak to Him in prayer. Tell Him you trust Him and desire to walk with Him. He is faithful, and He will meet you exactly where you are.
Heavenly Father, I give You my life. Please forgive me for all my sins and wash me clean through the blood of Jesus. I believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I receive Your forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Thank You, Lord—I am saved, I am forgiven, I am clean, and I am made new in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, welcome to the family of Father-God! I encourage you to find and join a Holy Spirit–filled, full-Gospel, Bible-based church where you can grow in your faith and experience the Lord’s love, signs, wonders, and miracles in your life.

Day 182 Bible Readings for July 3 - Proverbs 20:12-13 (NLT)
Proverbs 20:12-13 (NLT)
“Ears to hear and eyes to see—both are gifts from the Lord. If you love sleep, you will end in poverty. Keep your eyes open, and there will be plenty to eat!”
In Proverbs 20:12-13, Solomon reminds believers that the Lord gave us ears to hear and eyes to see so that we can develop spiritual discernment and better understand His will and purpose for our lives. Solomon also teaches that Father-God gave us the gift of sight so we can recognize and be alert to opportunities. However, if we love sleep and become lazy, we will eventually experience lack.
These verses remind me that the Lord loves His children and has given us the gifts of sight and hearing so we can know Him and better understand the world around us. These gifts lead to wisdom and help us discern the guidance of the Lord. But if we become lazy and neglect our responsibilities, we can experience lack and poverty. Spiritual laziness can also hinder our growth and keep us from bearing spiritual fruit.
The ability to hear spiritually, discern the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and have the insight to understand the Lord's will are gifts from Father-God that I value most in my life. These gifts help me better understand His will and purposes for my life. They also remind me of my responsibility to read and meditate on His Word so that I may continue to live in obedience and faith.
If these verses resonate with you—if you feel drawn to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the One who gives His children the gifts they need to live according to His will—this may be your moment.
Day 181 Bible Readings for July 2 - Proverbs 16:1-2 (NLT)
Proverbs 16-18, Psalm 26
Proverbs 16:1-2 (NLT)
“We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives.”
In Proverbs 16:1-2, Solomon teaches that we need to rely on the Lord to guide our lives. We can make plans, but we should always align them with Father-God’s will. Solomon also reminds us that we cannot rely solely on our own judgment because we are prone to self-deception. Instead, we should seek Father-God’s wisdom to examine our motives and actions.
When we seek the Lord’s guidance before making plans, we align ourselves with His will and purposes for our lives. People naturally tend toward self-deception and self-justification, believing their actions are always right. That is why we cannot rely solely on our own judgment but must continually seek the Lord’s wisdom in all things.
As my covenant relationship with the Lord has deepened, it has become increasingly important for me to remain aligned with His will for my life. I don't want to go where Father-God doesn't want me to go or do anything without His guidance. Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit has led me to a life filled with peace and the Lord's favor.
If these verses resonate with you—if you feel drawn to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the One whose guidance will lead you to a life of peace and favor—this may be your moment. Open your heart to Him. Speak to Him in prayer. Tell Him you trust Him and desire to walk with Him. He is faithful, and He will meet you exactly where you are.

Day 180 Bible Readings for July 1 - Proverbs 15:1-2 (NLT)
Proverbs 15:1-2 (NLT)
“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.”
In Proverbs 15:1-2, Solomon teaches believers about the power of words. The way we use our words can either worsen a situation or help bring peace. A gentle response during conflict can calm anger, while a harsh response stirs it up. Solomon also says that wise words make knowledge appealing to others, but the words of a fool promote misunderstanding and conflict.
Paul said in Galatians 5:22-23 that gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit. As believers, we should cultivate gentleness in our speech and in the way we treat others. Christ consistently responded to people with gentleness and grace. In James 3:5-6, James warns about the power of the tongue. Our words can cause great destruction, or they can demonstrate that we are followers of Christ by reflecting His love, truth, and character.
If I believe that Father-God lives within me, then I need to choose my words carefully so that my speech and actions reflect the Lord and help me live in harmony with other people.
If these verses resonate with you—if you feel drawn to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the One who can help you choose your words so that you can live in peace with others—this may be your moment. Open your heart to Him. Speak to Him in prayer. Tell Him you trust Him and desire to walk with Him. He is faithful, and He will meet you exactly where you are.
