2 Chronicles 18-20, Psalm 75
2 Chronicles 20:11-12 (NLT)
“Now see how they reward us! For they have come to throw us out of your land, which you gave us as an inheritance. O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”
In 2 Chronicles 20:11–12, King Jehoshaphat faced a threat from a vast army and prayed to the Lord. He prayed knowing that Father-God had not allowed Israel to destroy these peoples when they came out of Egypt and journeyed to the Promised Land. Jehoshaphat didn't pretend to have a strategy, and he didn't tell God how to solve the problem. He told the Lord that the battle was bigger than his kingdom and that he didn't know what to do. Jehoshaphat turned to Father-God and asked Him for help against the invaders.
These verses remind believers that we need to trust in the Lord's promises, knowing He is faithful to fulfill them. Like Jehoshaphat, we need to remember Father-God's past faithfulness in our lives, which can strengthen our faith during times of trial. Jehoshaphat's prayer also highlights the importance of recognizing our limitations and our need to rely on the Lord's strength and wisdom. Admitting that we don't know what to do or don't have a solution isn't a failure of our faith; it is a recognition of the limits of our own abilities.
These verses remind me that there will be circumstances when I don't know what to do, and admitting that doesn't mean I lack faith. Instead of immediately relying on my own understanding, I can turn my attention toward Father-God and ask Him for guidance. I don't need to know the solution before I pray; I need to know whom I trust when I don't have the solution.
If these verses resonate with you—if you feel drawn to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the One on whom we can rely for help when a problem is beyond our abilities—this may be your moment. Open your heart to Him. Speak to Him in prayer. Tell Him you trust Him and desire to walk with Him. He is faithful, and He will meet you exactly where you are.
Heavenly Father, I give You my life. Please forgive me for all my sins and wash me clean through the blood of Jesus. I believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I receive Your forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Thank You, Lord—I am saved, I am forgiven, I am clean, and I am made new in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, welcome to the family of Father-God! I encourage you to find and join a Holy Spirit–filled, full-Gospel, Bible-based church where you can grow in your faith and experience the Lord’s love, signs, wonders, and miracles in your life.
S. Brenda Elfgirl - I was told I am an elf in a parallel life, and I live in the Arizona desert exploring what this means. I've had this blog for a while and I write about the things that interest me. My spiritual teacher told me that my journey in life is about balancing "the perfect oneness of a sweetness heart and the effulgent soul". My inner and outer lives are like parallel lines that will one day meet, but only when there is a new way of thinking. Read on as I try to find the balance.
Thank you for viewing / reading my blog posts! I appreciate it!
