1 Chronicles 15-17, Psalm 67
1 Chronicles 17:16-17 (NLT)
“Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and prayed, ‘Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And now, O God, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving your servant a lasting dynasty! You speak as though I were someone very great, O Lord God!’”
In 1 Chronicles 17:16–17, David went into the tent that housed the Ark of the Covenant to talk to the Lord. He sat before Father-God in humility after the Lord promised to establish a dynasty of kings through his descendants. David was amazed at the Lord's favor because his family was not of noble origin and because Father-God had brought him from being a shepherd to becoming king.
David stopped and reflected on everything the Lord had done for him. He seemed overwhelmed by what Father-God had already done in his life. David had wanted to build a house for the Ark of the Covenant, but instead, the Lord promised to build a house for David by establishing his descendants as a dynasty of kings.
These verses remind me that I need to periodically look back at my life and recognize how far Father-God has brought me. The blessings in my life should never make me feel entitled to more blessings; instead, they should make me humble and grateful that the Lord has been so faithful to me. I used to worry incessantly about money, but after following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I have recently received financial projections showing that I should have more than enough money to live comfortably well into old age. I recognize the Lord's financial provision in my life, and I wake up amazed and grateful for His blessings every day.

Heavenly Father, I give You my life. Please forgive me for all my sins and wash me clean through the blood of Jesus. I believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead, and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I receive Your forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Thank You, Lord—I am saved, I am forgiven, I am clean, and I am made new in Jesus’ name. Amen.
